India's Agri-Exports Hit USD 21.5 Billion, Near Annual Goal; APEDA Boosts Growth with GI Products and Initiatives.
India's agricultural and processed food exports reached USD 21.5 billion from April to February 2021-22, nearing the annual target of USD 23.71 billion. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) contributed over 5% to India's record USD 400 billion mercantile exports. APEDA focused on Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products, facilitating trial shipments of unique regional products. Despite COVID-19 challenges, significant growth was seen in rice, cereals, fruits, vegetables, and meat exports. APEDA's initiatives, including partnerships, cluster development, and promotion of GI products, have bolstered India's agri-exports, enhancing farmers' income and market reach.
