<h1>Indian Tyre Makers Fined by CCI for Cartelization, Violating Competition Act; Heavy Penalties Imposed on Top Brands.</h1> The Competition Commission of India (CCI) penalized five tyre manufacturers and their association for cartelization, violating the Competition Act, 2002. The companies, including Apollo Tyres, MRF, CEAT, JK Tyre, and Birla Tyres, were found to have coordinated to increase tyre prices and limit production. The penalties amounted to Rs. 425.53 crore for Apollo Tyres, Rs. 622.09 crore for MRF, Rs. 252.16 crore for CEAT, Rs. 309.95 crore for JK Tyre, and Rs. 178.33 crore for Birla Tyres. The Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) was fined Rs. 0.084 crore and ordered to cease collecting price data. Certain individuals were also held accountable under Section 48 of the Act.
