The United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics was adopted by the Union Cabinet on 04-05-2016. The formal adoption of these Principles was a reiteration of the Government’s commitment to constantly work towards improving the quality of Official Statistics. The Government while adopting the Principles had also committed to bring out a National Policy on Official Statistics (NPOS) to give furtherance to the Principles. In this context, draft NPOS has been prepared and placed in the public domain at http://mospi.nic.in/announcements/suggestions-invited-draft-national-policy-official-statistics inviting comments/ views/ suggestions, latest by 31st May 2018.
