Cabinet Approves Rs. 5,000 Crore Micro Irrigation Fund to Boost Agricultural Efficiency Under PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a Rs. 5,000 crore Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF) with NABARD under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. The fund, allocated Rs. 2,000 crore for 2018-19 and Rs. 3,000 crore for 2019-20, aims to enhance micro irrigation efforts, supporting projects that cover 10 lakh hectares. States can access MIF for innovative projects, including PPP modes, with a lower lending rate. An Advisory and Steering Committee will oversee project approvals and implementation. The initiative targets expanding micro irrigation coverage, encouraging states lagging in adoption, and achieving a 10 million hectare target over five years.
