Abolition of check posts after GST rollout removes physical barriers to interstate movement under the unified indirect tax regime. Abolition of check posts followed the Goods and Services Tax rollout, prompting 22 States and Union Territories to remove intra state checkpoints to facilitate movement of goods under the unified indirect tax regime; additional States are reported to be in the process of abolishing check posts as part of staged administrative alignment with the new tax framework.
