<h1>Government Orders Banks to Install 1 Million More PoS Terminals by March 2017 to Boost Cashless Transactions.</h1> The Government has mandated banks to install an additional one million PoS terminals by March 31, 2017, to promote cashless transactions. Banks have ordered 600,000 PoS machines, with plans for 400,000 more. Currently, there are 1.5 million PoS terminals nationwide. A joint initiative with the Ministry of Labour has opened 2.454 million bank accounts for unorganized laborers through 273,919 camps. Following the demonetization on November 8, 2016, banks are enhancing transaction facilities and addressing unauthorized activities, resulting in action against seven public sector bank officials and audits in several branches.
