<h1>RBI Directs Cooperative Banks to Comply with Guidelines on Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 Notes Withdrawal, Ensures Compliance.</h1> The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has instructed cooperative banks to strictly adhere to guidelines regarding the withdrawal of legal tender status for Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 banknotes. Reports indicated non-compliance among some cooperative banks. The RBI has communicated with Urban Cooperative Banks via its Regional Offices and with State Cooperative Banks through the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) to ensure these banks follow the instructions on exchanging and depositing the specified banknotes into customer accounts.
