<h1>Sushil Chandra Appointed Chairman of CBDT, Expected to Boost Taxpayer-Friendly Initiatives and E-Governance Efforts.</h1> Shri Sushil Chandra has been appointed as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), succeeding the previous chair who retired. Chandra, an IRS officer from the 1980 batch, has served as Member (Investigation) in CBDT since December 2015. His career in the Income Tax Department includes roles such as Principal Chief Commissioner and Director General of Income Tax in Ahmedabad, and Commissioner of Income Tax in Mumbai. Chandra's leadership is anticipated to enhance the department's taxpayer-friendly initiatives and e-governance efforts.
