India Approves WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, Forms National Committee to Boost Ease of Doing Business Initiatives.
The Union Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, has approved the notification of commitments under the World Trade Organization's Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). This includes ratifying and accepting the protocol for the TFA and establishing the National Committee on Trade Facilitation. The TFA aims to expedite the movement, release, and clearance of goods, and enhance cooperation between customs and relevant authorities, aligning with India's Ease of Doing Business initiative. The agreement will take effect for members upon acceptance by two-thirds of WTO members. A National Committee will be formed to oversee domestic coordination and implementation.
