The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 1000 denomination Banknotes incorporating ₹ symbol, with 'R' inset letter, in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2014' printed on the reverse of the Banknote.
The design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the ₹ 1000 Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005, issued earlier.
All the Banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 1000 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
Currency issuance: new banknote featuring the rupee symbol and inset letter introduced; existing notes remain legal tender. Reserve Bank will issue a new banknote in the specified denomination incorporating the rupee symbol and an inset letter 'R' as part of the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005; the notes will bear the Governor's signature and year of printing, follow the earlier design, and previously issued banknotes of the same denomination will continue to be legal tender.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
