The Reserve Bank of India today released on its website ‘Quarterly Statistics on Deposits and Credit of Scheduled Commercial Banks: June 2013’. The publication contains data on spatial distribution of aggregate deposits and gross bank credit of scheduled commercial banks including regional rural banks (RRBs) based on Basic Statistical Return (BSR)-7 as on last Friday of June (i.e. June 28, 2013). The data are classified according to states, districts, centres (top 100 and 200 centres), population groups and bank groups.

Deposit and credit growth slowdown in scheduled commercial banks signals increased concentration and varied bank group C D ratios. Release of Quarterly Statistics on Deposits and Credit for scheduled commercial banks as of June 28, 2013, based on BSR 7 returns. The publication records a year on year deceleration in aggregate deposits and gross bank credit to 13.5% and 13.2% respectively, with slower growth across all population groups. It shows significant geographic and office size concentration of deposits and credit, reports bank group shares in aggregate deposits and credit, and states the all India credit deposit ratio of scheduled commercial banks at 76.5%, with foreign banks, new private sector banks and the State Bank group exhibiting higher ratios than the national average.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
