of The High Court considered the applicability of the Right to Information Act, 2005 to a cooperative society registered under the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Societies Act. It held that the cooperative society is not a 'public authority' u/s 2(h) of the RTI Act and is not obligated to provide information requested by a citizen. Consequently, the court quashed the impugned order and allowed the Writ Petition.
