Weighment of Scrap

RAM SHARMA

Dear Experts,

Is it compulsory for maintain record  of scrap weightment even it is inside the factory.

Thanks

Recordkeeping of scrap weighment is mandatory, with challan intimation required for external weighment instead of permission. Maintenance of records for scrap weighment is compulsory even for in-factory weighment, with proper records and daily DSA entries required. For weighment outside the factory, no permission from the excise authority is necessary; only intimation of challan numbers and retention of related movement documentation is required as part of the scrap records. Sir,

I mean maintain of record means for weightment record because permission is required if we weihgtment the scrap outside the factory.

Thanks

There is no requirement of getting the permission from the Central Excise Department.  Only intimation regarding challan nos are required which will be used for sending the scrap out of factory premises for weightment.

A proper record needs to be maintained.
