MRP issues...

Kishan Barai

Is it mandatory to have MRP label on Import we do in India & Foreign countries ? Many of my clients import mobile cover from china and as the QTY is small the suppliers are not able to cope up with our regulations, due to this heavy importation cost has to be bare by small importers of mobile cover at JNPT port, please share your views regarding this MRP issues on importation and exportation of goods.

Thank You

Importers Must Ensure MRP Labeling or Provide Declaration Under Section 4A of CE Act for CVD Compliance A discussion on the necessity of MRP labeling for imports in India, particularly for small importers of mobile covers from China, was initiated. The issue arises because suppliers struggle to meet Indian regulations, leading to increased import costs at JNPT port. It was clarified that items subject to MRP valuation under Section 4A of the CE Act must adhere to MRP labeling for CVD payment purposes. Importers have two options: ensure the import package includes an MRP sticker or provide a declaration to Customs Authorities about the MRP at which the goods will be sold in India. Another participant agreed with this explanation. (AI Summary)
