India Restricts Cotton Yarn Exports: Licenses Required, 720 Million Kg Limit for 2010-11 Fiscal Year.
The Government of India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade has issued a circular outlining conditions for obtaining export licenses for cotton yarn. For the fiscal year 2010-11, 720 million kilograms of cotton yarn are permitted for export until March 31, 2011. Export will be restricted and allowed only under license, except for exporters with a Registration Certificate from the Textile Commissioner, Mumbai, obtained before December 1, 2010. These exporters can export within the limits of their certificate. The application process for export licenses will be detailed once current export data is verified and the exportable surplus is reassessed.
