SEZ Units Can Export Prohibited Items and Import Restricted Items with Board of Approval Permission Under New Policy.
SEZ units are prohibited from exporting items classified as 'prohibited' under the current Foreign Trade Policy, but they can export 'restricted' items without permission. SEZ units have requested permission to import raw materials to manufacture products whose export is currently prohibited. The policy allows importing restricted items under Customs Bond for export purposes. SEZ units are now permitted to export prohibited items if they import the necessary raw materials, subject to approval by the Board of Approval (BOA). Similarly, SEZ units can import prohibited items if they export products made from them, with each case requiring BOA approval. Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) units can supply restricted items to SEZ developers or units with BOA approval.
