Customs office circular assigns RTI 2005 CPIOs and First Appellate Authorities, setting Section 19 appeal routes and filing methods
The circular issued by a Government customs commissionerate supersedes an earlier public notice and, pursuant to specified establishment orders, designates certain Deputy/Assistant Commissioners as Central Public Information Officers and certain Additional Commissioners as First Appellate Authorities for defined subject-matter jurisdictions under the Right to Information Act, 2005. It states that appeals against decisions of the CPIO may be filed before the corresponding FAA under section 19(1) and (2). It also indicates that RTI applications may be filed online or submitted by post/hand to the nodal RTI Cell CPIO, and that application fees paid by postal order are to be made payable to the designated government account.
