<h1>Public Authorities Must Appoint Public Information Officers Within 100 Days Under Right to Information Act, 2005</h1> Every public authority must designate Central or State Public Information Officers within 100 days of the enactment of the Right to Information Act, 2005, to provide requested information. Additionally, officers at sub-divisional or sub-district levels must be appointed as Assistant Public Information Officers to receive and forward applications or appeals. If applications are submitted to these assistants, five extra days are added to the response time. Public Information Officers must assist information seekers and may request help from other officers, who will be considered Public Information Officers for any violations of the Act.
