of <h1>Customs Officers Must Use ICETAB Mobile Tablets for Import Examination and Clearance from August 23, 2024</h1> The customs authority mandates the use of ICETAB, a mobile tablet device, for Customs Officers to expedite and digitize the examination and clearance of import consignments starting 23 August 2024. ICETAB enables real-time access to examination orders, risk management instructions, and Bill of Entry details, allows capturing and uploading of up to four images of cargo, and facilitates immediate submission of examination reports, eliminating the need for paper documents. Weekly reviews of ICETAB usage and resolution of technical issues will be conducted by senior Customs officials, who must also ensure network connectivity. Exceptions require prior approval from an Assistant Commissioner and must be documented. The circular directs widespread dissemination of these instructions to all stakeholders and calls for reporting any difficulties to the Board to enhance transparency, efficiency, and trade facilitation in customs processes.
