SEBI Amends Rules to Exempt University Funds, Endowments from Extra Disclosures under Certain Conditions.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended its circular to exempt University Funds and University-related Endowments from additional disclosure requirements under specific conditions. These entities must be registered or eligible as Category I Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and meet criteria such as having Indian equity assets under management (AUM) less than 25% of global AUM, a global AUM exceeding INR 10,000 crore, and appropriate tax filings in their home jurisdictions. These changes, effective immediately, modify the FPI Master Circular and aim to enhance regulatory compliance while protecting investor interests.
