of <h1>SEBI Updates Margin Verification Framework for Cash and Derivatives; New Rules Effective May 2023.</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has updated its framework for verifying upfront margin collection from clients in cash and derivatives segments. Effective three months from February 1, 2023, the End of Day (EOD) margin collection for derivatives, including commodities, will be based on fixed Beginning of Day (BOD) margin parameters. This change is solely for verification purposes; margin parameters for collection by Clearing Corporations will still be updated intra-day and EOD. Stock exchanges and clearing corporations must adjust their systems and report implementation progress to SEBI. Previous circulars are modified accordingly, with all other provisions remaining applicable.
