SEBI Revises Chapter XIV: Centralized Database for Corporate Bonds, New Industry Classification Framework, Effective April 2022.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has revised Chapter XIV of its Operational Circular concerning the issuance and listing of non-convertible securities and related instruments. This revision mandates the creation of a Centralized Database for corporate bonds, requiring issuers to provide specific data fields to depositories. A new harmonized four-level industry classification framework has been developed by SEBI's Market Data Advisory Committee to standardize classifications across sectors. Amendments include changes to the data submission requirements for issuers post-listing and updates to the sector classification tables. These provisions apply to debt securities issued from April 1, 2022.
