SEBI Updates Clearing Corporations' Investment Policy: Overnight Funds Added, Limited to 10% of Investible Resources.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has updated the investment policy for recognized Clearing Corporations, including those in International Financial Services Centres. Clearing Corporations are now permitted to invest in Overnight Funds, in addition to previously allowed Fixed Deposits, Central Government Securities, and Liquid schemes of debt mutual funds. However, the combined investments in Liquid Funds and Overnight Funds must not exceed 10% of total investible resources. Investments in Overnight Funds will be considered as 'Liquid Assets' for net worth calculations. These changes are effective immediately under SEBI's regulatory authority to protect investor interests and promote market development.
