DGFT Updates: Onion Exports No Longer Require Minimum Export Price or Letter of Credit as of Feb 2, 2018.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) clarifies that the export policy for onions has been updated to remove the requirements for a Minimum Export Price (MEP) and a Letter of Credit (LC). This follows Notification No. 48/2015-20, dated February 2, 2018, which supersedes the previous conditions outlined in Notification No. 39, dated November 23, 2017. Consequently, all varieties of onions can be exported without MEP or LC requirements effective from February 2, 2018, until further notice. This circular addresses concerns raised by exporters and has been approved by the competent authority.
