of <h1>Kolkata Customs Designates Falta SEZ Area as Inland Container Depot for Import-Export Operations Under Customs Act, 1962.</h1> In accordance with the Customs Act, 1962, the Commissioner of Customs in Kolkata has designated an area within the Falta Special Economic Zone as an Inland Container Depot (ICD) for the Central Warehousing Corporation. This area is now a Customs Area for handling import and export containerized cargo, including receiving, storing, examining, and clearing import containers, as well as consolidating, examining, and dispatching export cargo. Additionally, it will store empty containers related to specific bills of entry and shipping bills until electronic data interchange connectivity is established. The designated area measures 12,004.25 square meters and is effective from August 19, 2008.
