EPCG Scheme Update: Export Obligation Period Extended Automatically for Banned Products per Para 5.11.4, No Fees Required.
The Director General of Foreign Trade has amended the Hand Book of Procedures, Vol.I (RE-2008) under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Scheme. A new provision, paragraph 5.11.4, has been added, stating that if a ban or restriction is imposed on the export of any product, the export obligation period for EPCG authorizations issued before the ban will be extended automatically for the duration of the ban. This extension is granted without any composition fee, and exporters are not required to fulfill the average export obligation during the ban period. This amendment is issued in the public interest.
