Finance Ministry Allows Broader Import of Capital Goods for Service Providers Under DFCEC Scheme, Amends Notification No. 29/2004-Cus.
The circular from the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, addresses the importability of capital goods under the DFCEC Scheme for Service Providers. Initially, imports of capital goods other than professional or office equipment were restricted as per Circular No. 98/2003. However, following a re-examination and consultation with relevant authorities, it has been decided to permit the import of any capital goods required by service providers for rendering services under the scheme. This decision is operationalized through an amendment in Notification No. 29/2004-Cus. The circular supersedes the previous directive and calls for public and trade notices to be issued.
