Amendment Eases Firearm Transfer Rules: No DGFT Permission Needed After Set Time for Importers and Renowned Shooters.
The amendment to Para 2.43.2 of the Handbook of Procedures, Vol. I, 2009-2014, simplifies the procedure for transferring imported firearms. It removes the requirement for prior permission from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for transferring firearms after 10 years of import or when the importer reaches 60 years of age. Renowned Shooters can transfer firearms without DGFT permission after five years, or three years if they have been categorized as such for at least three consecutive years. The amendment aims to clarify and streamline the transfer process by eliminating unnecessary conditions.
