Board of Trade Advises on Export Policies, Reviews Import-Export Framework, and Suggests Improvements for Global Competitiveness
The Board of Trade (BOT) plays a crucial advisory role to the government on foreign trade issues. Its responsibilities include advising on policy measures to enhance exports, reviewing sectoral export performance, examining the institutional framework for imports and exports, and suggesting improvements. The BOT also reviews and rationalizes import-export policies and procedures to boost India's international competitiveness. The Commerce & Industry Minister chairs the BOT, which includes up to 25 government-nominated members, with at least 10 trade policy experts. Ex-officio members include leaders from Export Promotion Councils and National Chambers of Commerce. The BOT convenes quarterly.
