of <h1>Provisional customs duty assessments must be finalised within 14 months; proper officer may request more documents under Regulation 2</h1> When duty on imported or exported goods is provisionally assessed because further enquiry is required, the customs officer must complete the enquiry and forward the relevant documents and a written report to the proper officer for finalisation within fourteen months of the provisional assessment date. If additional documents or information are needed during the enquiry, the proper officer may request them within the time limits set by regulation 2.
