New Article 224: President Can Appoint Additional or Acting High Court Judges to Manage Backlogs and Temporary Increases.
Article 224 of the Constitution has been replaced to address the appointment of additional and acting judges in High Courts. The President is empowered to appoint additional judges for up to two years if there is a temporary increase in court business or backlog. In cases where a High Court judge, excluding the Chief Justice, is unable to fulfill duties or is acting as Chief Justice, the President can appoint an acting judge until the permanent judge resumes duties. Additionally, no appointed additional or acting judge can serve beyond the age of sixty.
