of <h1>12th Amendment Act, 1962: Goa, Daman, and Diu incorporated as Union territory; President empowered under Article 240(1).</h1> The Constitution (12th Amendment) Act, 1962 addresses the incorporation of Goa, Daman, and Diu into India following their acquisition on December 20, 1961. These territories are administered as a Union territory by the President through an Administrator under Article 239. The amendment aims to explicitly list Goa, Daman, and Diu as a Union territory in the First Schedule of the Constitution and amend Article 240(1) to empower the President to make regulations for their governance, similar to the provisions for Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
