of <h1>Finance Act 1970 amends Section 193: Tax exemptions on interest from 7-Year National Savings Certificates and certain debentures.</h1> Section 193 of the Income-tax Act has been amended by the Finance Act, 1970, to include additional clauses in the proviso. The new clauses exempt from tax any interest payable on 7-Year National Savings Certificates (IV Issue) and interest on debentures issued by co-operative societies, including co-operative land mortgage and development banks, or any other institution specified by the Central Government through notification in the Official Gazette.
