Settlement of Excise Cases: new rules under Section 37 establish title, commencement and supersession of prior settlement rules. Central Excise (Settlement of Cases) Rules, 2007, made under Section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, are titled as such, come into force on the first day of June, 2007, and supersede the Central Excise (Settlement of Cases) Rules, 2001, except insofar as matters arose prior to supersession.
