Assistance obligation: specified public officers must cooperate with proper officers in enforcement; Government may extend duty by notification. Specified public officers-police, railways, customs, land revenue collectors (including village officers), and central and State tax officers-have a statutory obligation to assist the proper officers in implementing inspection, search, seizure and arrest powers; the Government may by notification require other classes of officers to assist when called upon by the Commissioner.
