<h1>Indian residents can carry up to Rs. 25,000 in currency notes abroad under FEMA Regulation 3</h1> Regulation 3 of FEMA governs export and import of Indian currency and notes. Indian residents may carry up to Rs. 25,000 in Indian currency notes outside India (excluding Nepal and Bhutan) and up to two commemorative coins per person. Residents returning from temporary visits abroad may bring back up to Rs. 25,000 in Indian notes. Non-resident visitors (excluding citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh) may carry up to Rs. 25,000 in Indian currency both while entering and leaving India. The Reserve Bank may grant exceptions upon application with stipulated conditions. These limits have been progressively increased from Rs. 5,000 to current amounts through various amendments.
