Indian Currency Limit for Travel Abroad Raised to Rs. 7,500; Excludes Nepal and Bhutan.
The circular addresses changes to the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations, 2000, specifically regarding the amount of Indian currency residents can take abroad or bring back. The limit has been increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,500 per person, applicable to travel outside India, excluding Nepal and Bhutan. This amendment aims to provide greater flexibility to residents traveling abroad. Authorized persons are instructed to inform their clients and relevant foreign parties of these changes. The circular is issued under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, and does not affect other legal permissions or approvals.
