They are required to submit a declaration in Form A to the depository participant, who will forward it to the depository to verify their status as a new retail investor. Additionally, the investor must provide their permanent account number (PAN) when opening or designating the demat account as eligible under the scheme. These provisions were introduced through a notification dated December 18, 2013.
