Search and detention powers expanded to allow screening for internally secreted goods with supervisory approval and magistrate referral.

Amendment permits detention of a person believed to have goods secreted inside the body and authorises, with prior approval of the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner, prompt screening or scanning using available equipment-without prejudice to the person's legal rights including consent-and forwarding a screening report to the nearest magistrate if goods appear secreted; alternatively the person may be produced without unnecessary delay before the magistrate. It also amends subsection (6) to include reports received from the proper officer under clause (a) of sub-section (1).
