Section 12A permits the Central Government to require identification documents from persons seeking foreign contribution permission, registration, or certificate renewal. The requirement applies to all office-bearers, directors, and other key functionaries of the applicant entity. Aadhaar numbers may be required from Indian key functionaries, while foreign key functionaries may furnish a passport copy or Overseas Citizen of India Card. Identification verification may therefore be imposed during permission, registration, and renewal processes.
