Compounding of foreign-exchange contraventions prevents initiation or continuation of adjudication for the same compounded contravention.

Compounding of a foreign-exchange contravention before adjudication under section 16 requires discontinuation of adjudicatory proceedings against the person whose contravention has been compounded. No inquiry or further inquiry for adjudication of that same contravention may be initiated or continued.
