....The regulator amends the foreign portfolio investor regulations, effective 180 days after Gazette publication, to exempt investors who invest solely in government securities-subject to conditions to be prescribed-from specified requirements in regulation 4 (certain sub-clauses and a minor textual insertion) and multiple provisions of regulation 22 (including clauses in sub-regulation (1), exclusions in sub-regulation (3), and a proviso in sub-regulation (5)). The amendments grant conditional relief from compliance obligations for government-securities-only FPIs while preserving the regulator's authority to specify applicable conditions.....
