Chapter 05 regulates export of products of animal origin through interpretive notes, exclusions, and product-wise classifications of free, restricted, and prohibited items. It places a general prohibition on export of wild animals, animal articles, derivatives, and related wildlife products unless ownership certificates or specified research or management permissions exist, and permissible exports require Restricted Export Authorisation. Several animal products such as pig bristles, bones, horn and hoof products, feathers, coral, and animal by-products are free subject to consignment-wise shipment, production process, health, or veterinary certificates, particularly for EU or EU/UK exports.
