of <h1>India Expands Duty-Free Tariff Preferences to Five Additional Least Developed Countries Under Customs Act, 1962.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has amended Notification No. 96/2008-Customs, dated August 13, 2008, concerning duty-free tariff preferences for Least Developed Countries. The amendment, effective from August 28, 2008, adds five countries to the list eligible for these preferences: the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Republic of Mozambique, Samoa, Malawi, and Lao People's Democratic Republic. This change is made under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, and aims to support public interest by expanding the scope of duty-free imports from these specified countries.
