of <h1>University of North Bengal Approved for Tax Benefits Under Section 35(1)(ii) for Science Research Activities</h1> The University of North Bengal, located in Raja Rammohanpur, District Darjeeling, has been approved by the Secretary of the Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi, as an institution under section 35(1)(ii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This approval pertains to its work in natural or applied sciences, excluding fields like agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, medicine, social sciences, or statistics. The university must maintain a separate account for research funds and submit an annual report of its scientific research activities by April 30 each year. This notification is effective from April 1, 1977.
