of <h1>CBEC empowers Chandigarh-I Commissioner with nationwide authority for Central Excise investigations under Central Excise Act, 1944.</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has issued Notification No. 50/2000-CE(N.T.) dated August 29, 2000, granting the Commissioner of Central Excise, Chandigarh-I the authority to exercise the powers of the Commissioner of Central Excise across the entire territory of India. This empowerment is for the purpose of investigating and adjudicating cases assigned by the CBEC. This action is taken under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Central Excise Rules, 1944.
