of <h1>Gazetted Officers in West Bengal Empowered as Tax Recovery Officers Under Section 2(44)(iii) of Income-tax Act 1961</h1> The Central Government authorizes every Gazetted Officer of the Government of West Bengal to act as a Tax Recovery Officer under the Income-tax Act, 1961. This authorization is in accordance with sub-section (iii) of clause (44) of section 2 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. These officers, who are appointed to perform functions of a Certificate-Officer under clause (3) of section 3 of the Bengal Public Demands Recovery Act, 1913, are empowered to exercise the powers of a Tax Recovery Officer as per the notification dated April 1, 1962.
