<h1>Karnataka's Biotechnology SEZ in Bangalore Approved in 2006, Later Rescinded in 2013 Under SEZ Act 2005</h1> Karnataka Bio-technology and Information Technology Services, a state-owned industrial promotion organization, proposed establishing a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for biotechnology at Electronics City Phase III, Bangalore, under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The Central Government approved this proposal on October 26, 2006, and subsequently notified the designated area in Hobli Begur, Village Doddatoguru, Taluk Bangalore South, Karnataka, as an SEZ. This area encompasses various survey numbers, totaling 37.49 hectares. The notification was later rescinded by Notification No. S.O. 300 (E) on January 30, 2013.
