Deeming of SEZ as Inland Container Depot under Customs Act grants ICD status to engineering sector SEZs. The Central Government appoints 7 July 2008 as the date from which two engineering sector SEZs in Sonepat, Haryana, are deemed to be Inland Container Depots, pursuant to powers under the Special Economic Zones Act, thereby bringing those SEZ sites within the regulatory scope of the Customs Act.
