<h1>India Amends Public Provident Fund Scheme: New Rules for Deposits Made with Outstation Cheques</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued an amendment to the Public Provident Fund Scheme, 1968, under the Public Provident Fund (Second Amendment) Scheme, 2003. Effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, the amendment introduces a new sub-paragraph to paragraph 4 of the scheme. It specifies that when deposits are made using outstation cheques or instruments, collection charges at a prescribed rate must be paid with the deposit. The date of realization of the cheque or instrument will be considered the date of deposit.
